Natural vinegar is essentially a sustainable product. In the fermentation process, heat is produced which can be used for other business operations and heating the offices. At Burg Azijn, any remaining heat is returned to the grid (Waerdse Energy Circuit) so that other companies can use it.

Cooling is also required and for that we use cooling water from the ground. More than 1,000 solar panels have been installed at the refurbished site in Heerhugowaard. With our sustainability vision, we want to achieve these goals by 2035. Together with our partners, we strive to achieve:

100% circular
We want to be part of a circular economy by using 100% renewable raw materials for our products and packaging, and by not wasting anything in our factories.

100% carbon neutral
We want to reduce our direct and indirect carbon footprint (for scopes 1 and 2) to zero and substantially reduce our indirect emissions (scope 3).

100% responsible products
Our aim is that our products can be used safely and don’t have a negative impact on the environment. We work with suppliers to ensure that our ingredients are produced in a responsible way.

100% responsible packaging
We aim for all our packaging to be 100% renewable and fully circular.
